went for a walk on Saturday- it was so miserably hot. i've had enough of the heat, really. We stopped in one of the hotels to use the restroom and they had this big man-made pond with lots of Koi in it.
We went for a walk around Roosevelt Island. We've seen deer, lizards, heron, and small fish. This was our first time seeing snakes- and we saw 3 of them!
John and I decided (after swearing off of pets for good after Koga's death) that we wanted to get a guinea pig from a shelter.
Meet Midori. We've had her almost one week. She's a little less than 1 year old. She's still skittish, but we're trying to socialize her (we don't know what kind of life she had before us, only that she was surrendered to the Humane Society becuase the owner had "too many animals")
With great sadness, I have to inform you that Koga died. She was a loving part of our lives. It was a little over 2 weeks ago, and I still get upset thinking about it. She will be missed.
I caught the flu. Was it THE flu? I don't know. But it's not flu season... so perhaps this was "it." The weather was cool, sun was warm and after a week of rain, we just had to get out and walk. We ended up walking too far (probably) for our first long walk of the season after my illness. We saw deer, tons of turtles, and it really was beautiful.
