When you first open the box, undoubtedly, your first reaction will be: wow- this is huge.
Seriously, the phone is large and heavy. The weight will definitely turn people off. It’s as heavy as a digital camera- let’s refraise that- it’s as heavy as a HEAVY digital camera.
The build quality is really quite nice, though. Often times when you have devices with swiveling screens, the units are wobbly- this phone is like a chunky friend… sturdy. (which is good because there are controls on the screen that often need to be pressed)
So, what’s the attraction for a phone like this? Well, it’s the camera. The camera is 3.2megapixel camera, with optical zoom. The lens is a Carl Zeiss lens (it’s the lens and the optical zoom mechanism that makes the unit so large), and is capable of recording video in 30fps, at “near DVD quality.”
If you were in Europe, you could also take advantage of the 2nd camera for video calls.
Another cool feature is the ability to connect the phone up to the TV- you can play out of the phone any of the videos, music, pictures, etc. that are stored on the phone.
And of course, don’t forget the WiFi. That’s right- it’s got 3G (Europe only), WiFi, DVD-quality video, optical zoom, and- right, it’s a phone.
I’m still just getting started with it, but I’ll post some pictures of it, as well as pictures taken by the phone (PS- all of the pictures on this site so far were taken with it)
